Manoj Kumar Sardar #2 Sitar

A half decorated Karaj/Pancham (Ravi Shankar style) sitar from an excellent Kolkata maker. This instrument features double tumbas (gourd), 7 rose petal main pegs, 13 taraf (sympathetics) pegs, monochrome penwork, synthetic bridges and nuts with a brass langot (tailpiece). The carving and penwork are beautifully detailed. The tone and action is excellent. The Manoj Kumar Sardar sitars are characterized by a clean bright sound. The shop is run by four brothers, all musicians and craftsmen, who carry on and improve on the traditions of their father, Khagendranath Sardar and their grandfather Mrityunjay Sardar.
