Manoj Kumar Sardar Sitar - Vilayat Khan style

This is our most popular model of the Vilayat Khan or Gandhar/Pancham style sitars. Keeping with the Gandar/Pancham tradition the instrument is a single tumba (gourd) design with a dark finish, 12 taraf (sympathetic) pegs, and 7 swirl design main pegs and simulated mother of pearl inlays. The bridges and nuts are synthetic with a brass langot (tailpiece). A simple leaf design on the tabli (face) is highlighted with a unique two-tone finish. The shop is run by four brothers, all musicians and craftsmen, who carry on and improve on the traditions of their father, Khagendranath Sardar and their grandfather Mrityunjay Sardar.
