Kanai Lal Sitar #1

This is a fully decorated Karaj/Pancham (Ravi Shankar style) sitar with 13 inlaid taraf (sympathetic) pegs, 7 lotus style main pegs, monochrome penwork and wood mount upper tumba. The bridges and fittings are synthetic, as are most sitars nowadays. Each taraf string has a unique bridge design. This instrument has a very nice tone and smooth action. Not to be confused with the legendary late Kanai Lal (makers of sitar, surbahar, and vina), this Kolkata shop provides instruments of consistent and durable quality. We have been getting sitars from them for the last 5 years, and are very pleased with them.
